Applications are accepted January 2022/June 2022 & August 2022

 

Under the mentorship of Randy Leslie, Artistic Managing Director, and Resident Music Director, Spencer Bach, as well as guest instructors, The Young Performance Company (YPC) is an advanced training program for students aged 12-19 who show exceptional talent as performers.

 

Training includes a focus in musical theatre and acting with courses in physical theatre, mask, improvisation, music theory, voice, speech, teaching, TV & Film, and other specialties.

The Young Performance Company (YPC) will also guide those students 16 and up in preparing and selecting audition materials, school applications, resumé creating, theatre skills training, song performance, and dance and movement skills for post-secondary theatre school applications.
 

In PART ONE, of this program, students will produce and perform in We Will Rock You - The Music of Queen (Beginning February 24, 2022), They are then automatically accepted into STATE (The Summer Theatre Artistic Training Experience). 

 

PART TWO, is STATE, a three-week summer intensive July 4th through 22, 2022, 10:00 am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday (Please note there may be some evening rehearsals closer to the performance dates of July 21/22).

 

A full production is produced and performed.  Students will also work in another theatre discipline for this production that may include costume design, set design, props, lighting etc.

Last year students in STATE performed the musical Once On This Island on our professional stage as well as took part in a Broadway Workshop with Instructor Patti Murin, Anna in Broadway’s Frozen.

 

After attending STATE, students continue with PART THREE running Fridays from September 2022 thru June 2023, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. YPC will present two productions; a play and a musical as well as work on the technical side of Main Stage projects. YPC will replace our 2022/23 Senior Performance Troupe which takes place on Fridays. Dependent on students' schedules, other days will be added for further workshops/rehearsals.
 

Some PD Days from school throughout the year will have workshops in various theatre disciplines (i.e. accent work, stage fighting etc.)

Students may also be invited to perform in our Professional Main Stage Theatre Season.

 

Students rehearsing with Kelowna Actors Studio YPC will receive credits towards high school graduation. 

 

Once you confirm acceptance into the program Randy Leslie, Artistic Managing Director, and Rebecca Leboe, Manager, will meet with parents and students to discuss the process.

 

The Young Performance Company will take place Fridays, 4:00 pm to 6:00pm, September 2022 through June 2023.

 

The program fees are as follows: 
$280.00/month
*All text materials will be supplied
Extra fees may be incurred for field trips, show trips, etc.

Interested students can apply by submitting a headshot and resume
by February 15, 2022, at which time an audition time and interview will be arranged.
